MCCRANEY, Bessie V. (Dubuque, IA-- ). In 1967 Miss McCraney retired after teaching kindergarten fifty years for the [[DUBUQUE COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT]]. After completing high school in 1917, she passed the state teacher's exam and was hired for $25 per month as an assistant for the kindergarten teacher at [[LINCOLN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL]].
