PERRY, George G.
PERRY, George G. (Boston, MA, Nov. 1, 1853--Dubuque, IA, Nov. 10, 1915). At the age of three, Perry and his parents moved to Iowa. He was educated in the public schools and then took courses as the BAYLESS BUSINESS COLLEGE. He worked from 1870 to 1873 as a clerk in the firm of Cay & Winters and then worked a short time for B. Giad.
In 1873 Perry became a partner in the grocery of STANDISH AND PERRY. Standish left the business in 1883 and was replaced by W. R. Perry, a younger brother of George. The business was renamed GEORGE G. PERRY AND BROTHER. Perry became the editor of the DUBUQUE TIMES.
In 1896 Perry was slated to be appointed the state oil inspector, but said he had no interest in any such appointment. (1)
Perry was a director of the DUBUQUE COUNTY BANK and served as the chairman of the Republican County Committee.
