KUNNERT, Frederick J. (Bavaria, Germany, Feb. 20, 1881--Dubuque, IA, June 5, 1941) Located on Fourth Street between Main and Iowa, the N. L. ALDEN company operated for several years until 1911 when it was renamed the Key City Coffee and Spice Company. Business expansion led at that time to acquire the former building of the TRENK WIRE WORKS. At that time it was decided to rename the company again.

Kunnert organized the JAEGER-KUNNERT COMPANY in 1912 with Oscar JAEGER. He purchased the interests of his partner in 1927 and became the sole owner of the company.
