KOPPLE, Harry
KOPPLE, Harry. (Dubuque, IA, Nov. 21, 1891--Dubuque, IA, Jan. 22, 1987). One of the city's best known merchants, Kopple is remembered as the owner-operator of KOPPLE'S MARKET where he passed out free candy to children for more than sixty-three years. His business specialized in fine meats.
During the 1920s, Kopple directed and was a musician in Kopple's Orchestra. He had directed the TRI-STATE ORCHESTRA around 1915. (1)
One month before his ninetieth birthday, thirty children from nearby LINCOLN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL brought Kopple a happy birthday poster signed by four hundred children.
