KOPPLE, Harry. (Dubuque, IA, Nov. 21, 1891--Dubuque, IA, Jan. 22, 1987). Grocer. One of the city's best known merchants, Kopple is remembered as the owner-operator of Kopple's Market where he passed out free to candy to children for more than sixty-three years.

One month before his ninetieth birthday, thirty children from nearby LINCOLN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL brought Kopple a happy birthday poster signed by four hundred children. During the 1920s, Kopple directed and was a musician in Kopple's Orchestra.
