PIEROTTI, Eugene L. "Gene" (Chicago, IL, Dec. 26, 1931--Dubuque, IA, December 24, 2015). The son of Dario and Bruna (Gregolini), Pierotti spent four years in the U.S. Navy during the KOREAN WAR before graduating from LORAS COLLEGE in 1959. On June 3, 1961, Gene married Genevieve Colbert at Holy Family Church in Mason City, Iowa.

Pierotti taught and coached at Holy Family and Newman high schools in Mason City before moving to Dubuque in 1964. He coached boys and girls golf and sophomore boys' basketball at WAHLERT HIGH SCHOOL and was the athletic director from 1970 until his retirement in 1997.

He was elected into the IAHS AD Hall of Fame in 1995.
