MCGOVERN, Melvin P.
MCGOVERN, Melvin P. (Dubuque, IA-- ). In 1962 McGovern was the director of the educational development program for the Army's 1st Corps Group stationed in Korea. An estimated 25% of the troops attend classes supervised by McGovern. Students range from those taking grade school work to those acquiring college degrees.
In 1962 McGovern wrote a book about Korean printing which used movable type half a century before Guttenberg, the German usually credited with the invention. He was also working on another book, largely pictorial, on Korean folk art.
