NELSON, David

NELSON, David. (Dubuque, IA-- ). The fastest sprinter in Dubuque while he attended high school, David Nelson earned a track and field scholarship to the UNIVERSITY OF DUBUQUE. Upon graduation, he trained as a physical therapist at the University of Iowa. His sub-specialty was dealing with pain. He was a certified arthritis specialist by the American Physical Therapy Association and a certified specialist in office ergonomics and a Manual Therapist.

David wrote The Shade Tree Choir at a time that he was dealing with his psychiatric diagnosis of clinical depression. He felt by telling others about his past including child abuse he could help heal himself.

He wrote the book, Stress Management: Does Anyone in Chicago Know About It? at a time when he taught groups how to manage their stress. He is a former instructor of Tai Chi and uses meditation and a vast array of methods to manage my depression and stress. He is retired.

David a former member of The National and Central Florida Speakers' Association. Now retired from being a physical therapist, he has been named the Cowboy Poet Laureate of Tennessee and performs his Cowboy Comedy Show nationwide.
