HODGE & WHITELAW. The 1870-1871 and 1873-74 Dubuque City Directory located this business on the east side of Clay between 8th and 9th.

The 1874-1875 Dubuque City Directory stated that this business was located on 876 Clay.

This firm became the AMERICAN SMELTING COMPANY prior to 1880.
