In 1958 the Dubuque Board of Dock Commissioners issued a 100-year lease to a five-acre Hawthorne Street parcel to RIVERSIDE BOWL. This bowling alley was later renamed Bowling and Beyond.
In 2012 the owners were granted a buyout of their lease for $1 million.
