The owners, Frederick and Patricia Bakey, received the Dubuque County Historical Society's Building and Sites Committee Award Certificate in 2000 for retaining and restoring the historical character of the building. A covering over the brick was removed, windows were replaced, and apartments in the upper two floors were refinished.
