KITCHENS BY BAKEY. The 1993 Dubuque City Directory listed 231 W. 2nd.

The owners, Frederick and Patricia Bakey, received the Dubuque County Historical Society's Building and Sites Committee Award Certificate in 2000 for retaining and restoring the historical character of the building. A covering over the brick was removed, windows were replaced, and apartments in the upper two floors were refinished. Kitchens by Bakey occupied the main floor.
