ELLWANGER, Andrew. (Grand Duchy of Hesse-Darmstadt, Germany, Nov. 30, 1842--1901). Andrew was only ten when his parents brought him to the United States. From 1860 through 1869 he worked for George Brogan learning the harness-making trade. In 1869 with his brother Otto, Ellwanger opened his business at 1256 Clay under the name [[ELLWANGER BROS.]] Otto remained in the business after the death of his brother.
