DAYKIN, Allen. (Center Grove, Jan. 3, 1887--Dubuque, IA, Nov. 28, 1972). After spending nearly thirty years as a deputy county auditor, Daykin was appointed to the position in 1937 upon the resignation of [[KIES, Peter J.|Peter J. KIES]].  He served until December 31, 1950 when he was replaced by [[MELOY, Harold P.|Harold P. MELOY]] who defeated him in the Democratic primary.
