KRETSCHMER, Herbert C. (Dubuque, IA, Aug. 2, 1866--Dubuque, IA, Sept. 11, 1933). Founder, Kretschmer Manufacturing Company. At the age of fifteen, Kretschmer began working as a plumber's assistant and later found work at the [[A.Y. MCDONALD MANUFACTURING COMPANY]] as a shipping boy. He rose in the company to become a salesman, but in 1907 formed a partnership with his brother to establish their own business known as the Kretschmer Manufacturing Company.
