KRETSCHMER, Herbert C.
KRETSCHMER, Herbert C. (Dubuque, IA, Aug. 2, 1866--Dubuque, IA, Sept. 11, 1933). Kretschmer was the son of Charles G. KRETSCHMER, principal of the Fifth Ward School. At the age of fifteen, Herbert began working as a plumber's assistant for MORRISON BROTHERS COMPANY.
Kretschmer rose in the company to become a salesman. In 1907 he formed a partnership with his brother, Frederick N. KRETSCHMER. This was announced in 1909 when the Morrison-Kretschmer Manufacturing Company amended its articles of incorporation to change its name to the KRETSCHMER MANUFACTURING COMPANY. Herbert served as president. (1)
In 1926 upon the advice of his physician, Herbert sold his interest in the company to his brother and retired. (2)
