ANDERSON, Alexander. Erie County,PA--Unknown). In 1842 Anderson emigrated westward and settled in Dubuque. He worked as a surveyor. In 1855 Anderson drafted a map of the mineral lots of Dubuque which was still used as authority at the end of the 19th century.

The [[DUBUQUE CENTRAL IMPROVEMENT COMPANY]] was organized January 23, 1857, with a capital of $2,100,000. The corporators were [[FARLEY, Jesse P.|Jesse P. FARLEY]], Franklin V. Goodrich, Austin J. Goss, Robert C. Waples, [[PELAN, Christopher|Christopher PELAN]], Robert M. Walmsley, [[ANDERSON, Alexander|Alexander ANDERSON]] and [[BISSELL, Frederick E.|Frederick E. BISSELL]]. (1)
