KRETSCHMER, Herbert C. (Dubuque, IA, Aug. 2, 1866--Dubuque, IA, Sept. 11, 1933). Founder, [[KRETSCHMER MANUFACTURING COMPANY]]. At the age of fifteen, Kretschmer began working as a plumber's assistant and later found work at the [[A.Y.MCDONALD MANUFACTURING COMPANY]] as a shipping boy. He rose in the company to become a salesman, but in 1907 formed a partnership with his brother to establish their own business known as the Kretschmer Manufacturing Company. Kretschmer was the son of [[KRETSCHMER, Charles G.|Charles G. KRETSCHMER]], principal of the Fifth Ward School.

KRETSCHMER, principal of the Fifth Ward School.
