DUBUQUE AREA CONGREGATIONS UNITED. Religious organization.  Founded in 1979, the organization was nown as the Dubuque Area Christians United. In 1994, the organization voted 17-11 to become interfaith.
DUBUQUE AREA CONGREGATIONS UNITED.  Founded in 1979, the organization was originally known as the Dubuque Area Christians United. In 1994, the organization voted 17-11 to revise its by-laws, open its memberships to all faiths, and rename itself. [[TEMPLE BETH-EL]], Dubuque only Jewish congregation, joined DACU in 1995. In 1999 Ann Barrash, from Temple Beth-El, became DACU's first Jewish president. (1)

DACU sponsored two annual worship services--on the night before Thanksgiving and an outdoor service in June. The group also maintained its activity in the Dubuque Food Pantry, CROP Walk, People in Need, and UNICEF. (2)

In 1994, the organization voted 17-11 to revise its by-laws, open its memberships to all faiths, and rename itself. TEMPLE BETH-EL, Dubuque only Jewish congregation, joined DACU in 1995.
