WALLER, Richard DeWitt

WALLER, Richard DeWitt. (ROCKDALE, IA--Dubuque, IA, Mar. 4, 1972). The great-grandson of Richard WALLER, Waller was the traffic manager of FARLEY AND LOETSCHER MANUFACTURING COMPANY for forty-nine years. He was also employed by FIRST NATIONAL BANK OF DUBUQUE and the Dubuque Chamber of Commerce.

Waller served as chairman of the Traffic Committee of the National Door Manufacturer's Association for several years and was one of only three non-attorneys in the country licensed to practice before the Interstate Commerce Commission. He served on the city Planning and Zoning Commission for thirty years including serving as chairman for several years. He was the director of the committee that drew the original precincts in Dubuque.

Waller was the secretary-treasurer of the DUBUQUE GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB and served as director of the Dubuque Savings and Loan Association. He was vice-president at the time of his death. In 1963 he received the Dubuque Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Service Award. In his retirement, he was the dean of the Traffic Managers in the United States.
