THOMPSON, John "Jack" (Dubuque, IA, Nov. 5, 1928--Dubuque, IA, Dec. 19, 2008) In 1944 Thompson took over the Thompson Food Market and later created OKY DOKY, 6 1/2 Discount and Dubuque Distributing. His TFM Company also included the Iron Kettle Delhi, the Upstairs and The Caterers restaurants. Known for extending credit to customers, he even delivered groceries if needed.

His ownership of the building once the site of DUBUQUE SEED COMPANY led to one of the most unique chapters in Dubuque's history of business development--the ICE HARBOR EMPORIUM.

He was the longest standing member of the DUBUQUE SHOOTING SOCIETY.
