THEISEN SUPPLY INC. Theisen's was founded in 1927 as Theisen Battery & Electric by Leo N. THEISEN and his wife, Katheryn.on 8th Street in Dubuque, Iowa. In 1948 the company became the THEISEN-O'NEILL TIRE COMPANY, before being known as THEISEN DISTRIBUTING INC., and then assumed its current name of Theisen Supply, Inc. (1)

The company opened a second store in Maquoketa, Iowa in 1957. During the 1960s and 1970s the company opened additional stores in Anamosa, Dyersville, Tipton, DeWitt, and Monticello. In 1979 Theisen's left the 8th Street store, moving the retail operation to Dodge Street (US Route 20). The company also expanded to new locations, such as Marshalltown, Charles City and Cedar Rapids, relocated several stores to larger facilities, and built an addition on to the Dubuque store. (2)

Already the owner of nine Theisen home, farm and auto retail stores in northeast Iowa, the company announced its purchase of the Fleet Family Center stores in Charles City and New Hampton. The firm also announced a 20,000 square-foot expansion to its distribution and warehouse center in Dubuque. The current building occupies 40,000 square-feet. (3)

In 2021 the company pledged $1 million dollars toward an endowment for the DUBUQUE AREA CAREGIVER RESOURCE CENTER.
