T. B. CLEAVER
T. B. CLEAVER. Opened in 1871, T. B. Cleaver's Soap Factory was located at the foot of 20th Street. Four men were employed making soap that was used locally. The company was capitalized at $5,000 and earned an estimated $10,000 annually. (1)
The 1875-1876 through 1878-79 Dubuque City Directory gave "20th near Lake."
In November 1879 the company advertised for people to save their wood ash and a "driver" from the firm would collect it. (2)
The 1880 Dubuque City Directory stated that this business was to be found at the east end of 29th.
According to the 1883 Dubuque City Directory, this business was located on 20th near the round house.
The 1886-87 Dubuque City Directory listed the foot of 20th.
