STAR TAXI COMPANY. Perhaps the most famous "passenger" to use a Star Taxi was Everett "Shorty" AKINS. Known locally for his spectacular stunts, Akins delivered quite a performance on September 20, 1920. He performed acrobatics including a handstand on the wing of a Star Taxi airplane at Pettigout's Field, south of East Dubuque, Illinois while traveling at a speed of 70 mph. (1)
