ST. PATRICK'S SCHOOL. In 1870 St. Patrick's School, only for boys, was constructed by Msgr. Roger Ryan. Teachers were SISTERS OF CHARITY OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY (BVM). Girls of the parish were sent to ST. JOSEPH ACADEMY on 13th and Main. In 1879 when the Sisters of Charity moved their boarding school for girls to the new Mount St. Joseph Academy, the former boarding school became the girls' parochial school.

In 1897 a new boys' school was constructed. Although initially it enrolled twenty-eight, the attendance soon passed the one hundred mark.

In 1940 the Farber residence on 14th and Locust was purchased for $6,160 and remodeled into a school. Primary grades were instructed there until 1952. The same year the grade school girls who attended St. Joseph Academy were transferred to the parish school at 15th Street.

In 1951 a three-story $400,000 school building was constructed. It contained nine classrooms, an activity room, an office, music studio, a gymnasium, and kitchen. In 1958 the activity room and three rooms were renovated as classrooms. An addition above the gymnasium provided seven more classrooms.

In 1967 most students completing eighth grade continued on to WAHLERT CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL to which St. Anthony's parish pledged 9.9% of the building costs.
