The developer of a new game. (2017)

SPAIN, Liz. (Alberquerque, NM-- ). Educated in the DUBUQUE COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT, Spain moved to Ames, Iowa following high school graduation in 2002 and enrolled in Iowa State University. She received her B.S. in Apparel Merchandising, Design and Production in 2008. She has since been designing and creating costumes for a local game company, Flying Frog Productions, in Seattle, WA. Her awards include the Iowa State University 26th Annual Fashion Show-1st Place Urbanwear, 1st Place 2D/3D, 3rd Place Designer Collections. In addition she has received: Anime Detour Masquerade 2007 - Best in Skill Category: Journeyman Award, GenCon Costume Competition 2006 - Best in Category: Anime Award, Best in Show Runner-up, Anime Central Masquerade 2005 - Costume Merit Award (Judge's Choice), Anime Iowa Masquerade 2004 - Prestige Award (Best in Show), Anime Reactor Masquerade 2003 - Judge's Choice Award, and Anime Iowa Masquerade 2003 - Judge's Choice Award. In 2005 she was a guest judge of the Anime Iowa Masquerade. (2)

Liz Spain began game design around 2009. In addition to game design, she did the art direction, graphic/product design, photography, and manufacturer sourcing for her initial solo board game project, Incredible Expeditions: Quest for Atlantis. (3) She has worked in a number of roles for game companies such as Harebrained Schemes, Flying Frog Productions, and Aesterlight Studios. She has designed and organized live–action and escape room games across the United States and Canada. In 2018 Liz was on the Lone Shark Games design team creating the card mechanics for games such as the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game and Apocrypha. (4) Her best-selling titles were the "Pathfinder Adventure Card Game" and the "Widow's Walk Expansion for Betrayal at House on the Hill." (5)
