SCHLUETER, Thomas W.
SCHLUETER, Thomas W. (Dubuque, IA, May 3, 1931--January 26, 2015) The son of Leo B. and Helen (Ott) Schlueter, Thomas graduated from LORAS ACADEMY and attended LORAS COLLEGE. He was a member of the semi-pro team, the Dubuque Star Brewers and was struck out swinging against Satchel Paige who became a famous major league pitcher.
Thomas joined the SCHLUETER INSURANCE AGENCY in 1953 with his father and brother and went on to become vice president of the firm. He was president of the local insurance association and a state representative of that association.
Thomas was active in many fund raising drives for The United Way, Cancer Society, STONEHILL COMMUNITIES, WAHLERT CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL, Loras College and MERCY MEDICAL CENTER.
