SATER, H.H.
SATER, H. H. (Norway, 1842--- ). Superintendent of the manufacturing department of the NORWEGIAN PLOW COMPANY. Sater emigrated to America in 1868, He came West to Ordville, Wisconsin the same year and opened a small blacksmithing shop manufacturing plows over an anvil. (1)
In 1874, in association with others, Sater began manufacturing the Norwegian Plow at Brodhead, Wisconsin. (2) The use of machinery to manufacture plows more quickly attracted the attention of C. W. MITCHELL. In 1877 he purchased an interest in the company and a salesroom and branch of the firm was opened in Dubuque. In June 1879, the Norwegian Plow Company was organized. In October, the company moved to Dubuque and erected larger works. Sater was chosen the superintendent of the manufacturing department.
