SANDERSON, E. A. (Decorah, IA- ). Sanderson, historian and president of the Telephone Pioneers of America, organized the efforts to erect flagpoles at KENNEDY MALL and SCHMITT HARBOR. He was chairperson of the Armed Forces Day committee, Dubuque's Navy League, and served as general chairman of the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard Dinner committee. Sanderson held the office of president of the local chapter of the Naval Reserve and membership in the USS Oklahoma Association. He served as president of the Telephone Pioneers of America (1977).
Sanderson's "Operation Sleigh" undertook the task of sending Christmas greetings to each of the five hundred sailors aboard the U.S.S. DUBUQUE.
