SAND, Eugene "Gene" K.
SAND, Eugene "Gene" K. (Dubuque, IA, Oct. 20, 1930--Dubuque, IA, Mar. 24, 2014) The son of Edna Mae Williams and Cleve Mattox, Gene graduated from DUBUQUE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL in 1948. He was married on May 1, 1954 and later divorced.
Gene was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1951 serving two years with the 11th Airborne Division. He began his career as a barber on April 1, 1954 at a barber shop at 1036 Main St. He opened SAND'S BARBER SHOP at 1516 Central Ave. on November 1, 1964.
