RUTTENBERG, Janet. (Dubuque, IA, 1931-- ). Born Janet Kadesky, she left Iowa at the age of fourteen but returned to study printmaking with the famed Mauricio Lasansky at the University of Iowa. She called New York City home since 1965 and has used Central Park for the background of many paintings.

More interested in art for its own-sake rather than its commercial value, Janet worked in all types of medium. Her first exhibition was held in 2013 at the Museum of the City of New York. In 2015 she exhibited her work at a DUBUQUE MUSEUM OF ART exhibition that also featured the work of her daughter, Kathy.
