ROWLEY, Serica
ROWLEY, Serica (Dubuque, IA-- ). In February 2015 Serica Rowley was crowned Miss Greater Des Moines by Kristina BELL who was also a native of Dubuque. The Miss Greater Des Moines was an open pageant to anyone who worked or resided in Iowa. The winner moved on to the Miss Iowa pageant whose winner competed in the Miss America contest. In 2012 she was named Miss Winona and represented Winona Minnesota in the Miss Minnesota Pageant which was also a preliminary contest to the Miss America Pageant.
Serica's platform in 2015 was promoting volunteerism. From Me to We: Empowering Youth to Volunteer. As Miss Greater Des Moines she also promotes the Miss America National Platform of the Children's Miracle Network. She spent the past year in more than thirty-five volunteer activities and is the first Iowa participant in the Duke of Edinburgh Young American's Challenge Award program for young adults 14-25 that recognizes achievements in service to others, skills development, physical fitness and adventurous journey.
In 2014 Serica received the Bronze Award and completed her work for the Silver Award and began working on her Gold Award. In the same year, she received the Miss America Organization Community Service Scholarship. In 2015 she was an adjunct instructor at the UNIVERSITY OF DUBUQUE, a substitute teacher in the DUBUQUE COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT, and a musical choreographer for Dyersville Beckman Catholic High School.
