RATH, David C. (Dubuque, Oct. 9, 1887--Hollywood, CA, Aug. 23, 1950) The son of George C. Rath, David graduated in 1905 from the DUBUQUE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL and entered his father's business GEORGE C. RATH AND SONS. He was later involved in the manufacture of shirts as well as the grocery business.

In Dubuque was was an outstanding basketball coach at both LORAS COLLEGE and the UNIVERSITY OF DUBUQUE. Active in civic organizations, he promoted the famous "Made in Dubuque" trade fairs. He was a member of the ROTARY CLUB OF DUBUQUE and served as its president in 1920-1921.

In 1935 he moved to Phoenix, Arizona. It was there and in Los Angeles, California that he organized and managed soft drink bottling operations and was president of the American Beverage Company.

In 1949 he was elected secretary of the Santa Monica, California Chamber of Commerce.
