RATH, D.E.
RATH, David E. (Dubuque, IA, Oct. 9, 1887--Hollywood, CA, Aug. 23, 1950). After graduation from DUBUQUE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL in 1905, Rath worked at his father's meat business, GEORGE C. RATH AND SONS. He later manufactured shirts and was involved in the grocery business. He was an outstanding basketball coach at LORAS COLLEGE and the UNIVERSITY OF DUBUQUE. He was a well-known "Made in Dubuque" trade fairs and was president of the Dubuque ROTARY CLUB OF DUBUQUE IN 1920-1921.
In 1935 Rath moved to Phoenix, Arizona. There and in Los Angeles, California he organized and managed soft drink concerns and was presidenT of the American Beverage Company. He moved to Hollywood around 1949.
In 1953 Rath was elected secretary of the Santa Monica California Chamber of Commerce.
