QUADE, Francis L. (Providence, RI, Dec. 23, 1846--Dubuque, IA, May 9, 1945). Quade was the last Dubuque survivor of the CIVIL WAR. Joining Company G of the 8th Iowa Cavalry. Quade fought in battles on November 30, 1865, and December 15-16, 1865, in Georgia. He remained in the Union Army until August 1865.

In 1933 Quade was elected Iowa's state commander of the GRAND ARMY OF THE REPUBLIC (G. A. R.).
