NORTHWESTERN WIRE WORKS. In 1867 the Northwestern Wire Works were established by T. C. Duffy, in a store of the Lorimier House. In the fall of 1874, he purchased the Baptist Church, at 38 Ninth Street and relocated his business.

Duddy manufactured every variety of wire goods, including cloth and screens for windows. He employed a force of nineteen men and boys, paying a total of $200 weekly. An estimated $15,000 worth of goods annually around 1911, in Missouri, Minnesota and Iowa.

The 1875-1876 Dubuque City Directory gave 17 Julien as the company's address.
