NORTH-WESTERN WIRE WORKS. In 1867 the North-Western Wire Works were established by T. C. Duffy, in a store of the Lorimier House. In the fall of 1874, he purchased the Baptist Church, at 38 Ninth Street.

The 1875-1876 Dubuque City Directory gave 17 Julien as the company's address.

Duffy manufactured every variety of wire goods, including cloth and screens for windows. He employed a force of nineteen men and boys, paying a total of $200 weekly. An estimated $15,000 worth of goods was sold annually around 1911, in Missouri, Minnesota and Iowa.
