MURPHY, Charles S. (Dubuque, IA, Sept 2, 1878--Dubuque, IA, Jan. 3, 1915) Murphy began his business career in Dubuque working in 1898 at the KEY CITY GAS COMPANY. After several years in Chicago working as a salesman for one of the largest meat packers in the city, he returned to Dubuque and the gas company. (1)
In 1908 he entered the insurance business with his brother, David. Charles died of TYPHOID in one of the worst epidemics city residents had seen in fourteen years. (2)
