MORAN, James. (Dubuque, IA-- ). In 1973 Moran won first place in the best of show competition at the 45th annual Model A Restorer's Club national meet in Dearborn, Michigan. Judging was done mainly on authenticity with the car looking most like it came off the 1929 assembly line being the winner. Moran, a member of the Tri-State Car Club, also placed first in the 1928-1929 open class.

In 1972 Moran purchased a worn-out 1929 Model A Roadster from another Dubuque resident. Going to "swap meets" in Rockford, Illinois; Hershey, Pennsylvania; and Milwaukee, Wisconsin permitted him to obtain the parts he needed for the restoration. F & S RADIATOR REPAIR in Dubuque provided the best find--an unused 1929 round tube radiator.

Moran took eleven months to complete the restoration. He successfully competed against 497 other Model A's from every state in the nation.
