MISSISSIPPI VALLEY MILK PRODUCERS ASSOCIATION. Mississippi Valley began doing business as an association on July 1, 1959. It was created through the consolidation of the Illinois-Iowa Milk Producers Association and the Quality Milk Association.

Quality Milk had purchased the business property and assets of Prairie Farms Creamery of Mt. Carroll, Illinois. On October 1, 1962 the DUBUQUE COOPERATIVE DAIRY MARKETING ASSOCIATION and the Buckhorn Cooperative Creamery of Maquoketa, Iowa merged with Mississippi Valley. (1) According to the April 5, 1970 Directory of Industry, the warehousing company was located in Dubuque in 1963 and employed six people. The headquarters was maintained in Davenport.

Swiss Valley Farms brand name was originally used on packaging in 1977. The cooperative officially changed its name from Mississippi Valley Milk Producers Association to SWISS VALLEY FARMS in 1981. (2)

The 1974 through 1983 Dubuque City Directory listed 10 Terminal St.
