METTEL, Nicholas. (Rhine Prussia, Germany, Feb. 27, 1828-- ). Mettel came to the United States in 1854 and settled in Dubuque in 1856. He had a long experience in gardening and cultivating flowers so in 1878 he entered business for himself as the owner of the Tivoli Flower Garden, West Eagle Point Avenue.
