MEISENBERG, Ken

KEN MEISENBERG. In 1945 the AMVETS, American Veterans of WORLD WAR II, an organization dedicated to the lives of American veterans elected Meisenberg their 1st vice commander. At that meeting the organization approved a resolution requesting an income tax exemption for World War II veterans equal to the $1,000 exemption given to veterans of WORLD WAR I. (1) In 1946 he assisted in the formation of a chapter of the organization in Cedar Rapids. (2) In 1959 Meisenberg was a member of the board of directors of the Iowa Restaurant Association. (3)

His activity in sports was recorded in the newspaper as early as 1938 when he played as pitcher for THIRD PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. (4) He was auto racing as early as 1952 when his name became a regular feature in the sports pages of the newspaper.
