LORAS JUDO CLUB
LORAS JUDO CLUB. In 1991 the Loras Judo Club was oldest active club of its type in Iowa. Not affiliated with LORAS COLLEGE, the club was open to tri-state students and Dubuque-area residents. The original faculty moderator for the team, Bob Zahren, was succeeded in 1991 by Pat Flanagan. Among the three hundred who have belonged to the club are Terry SMITH, Jeff Lang who earned two state titles, and Mike Scheckel who trained to be a member of the United States team for the Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain.
