LOOMIS, Ace Darl

LOOMIS, Ace Darl. (Dubuque, IA, June 12, 1928 – Santa Fe, NM, September 11, 2003) Loomis played football at DUBUQUE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL and the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. As a junior high student, he was transported to high school to practice with the varsity team. (1) In college he received All-American honors as a basketball player in 1948 and was named to the Helms Foundation of All-American Football teams as a fullback. (2)

Loomis was drafted in the fifth round of the 1951 NFL Draft out of the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse by the Cleveland Browns. (3) He was changed from a fullback in professional football to a corner back. Loomis was traded by Cleveland to Green Bay in 1957. (4) He played three years for the Packers and retired in 1953. (5)
