LEARY, James. (Wickford, Ireland, Aug. 13, 1868--Unknown). Leary received his education in the Canadian Sectarian schools, business college and in Bishop's Academy at Montreal. He then studied telegraphy and for a number of years was employed by the Canadian Pacific and other railroads as operator and train dispatcher.

He left this work to enter the brokerage business on the Chicago Board of Trade and remained there ten years. In 1902 he opened his offices in Dubuque. The Leary Commission Company was a dealer in stocks, bonds, grain, cotton, and provisions with offices in the BANK AND INSURANCE BUILDING.
