LATINX FIESTA
LATINX FIESTA. Begun in 2001, Latinx Fiesta was planned to bring the Latin American community together to celebrate and share traditions. The fourth fiesta held in September 28, 2024 began with dancers from Kuyayki Peru, a group of dancers based in Minnesota. They presented a dance from Peru. Visitors wandered among vendors offering tacos shaved ice and chicharrones--fried pork rinds. Other booths featured wooden toys, small sandals and brightly colored T-shirts. (1)
The event was sponsored by Dubuque Unidos, is an organization made up of 14 Latinx young professionals striving for the same goal – bringing cultural and educational awareness of the Latinx community to the Dubuque community. (2)
