KRIEGER-VEREIN. On May 22, 1904 local members of the Krieger-Verein scheduled a picnic at the DUBUQUE SHOOTING PARK. Races, sports and games of all kinds were planned.

The Krieger-Verein was an organization for veterans of the Franco-Prussian War of 1871. In 1904 there were an estimated eighty members in Dubuque under the presidency of Captain Sinnhold. Membership in the organization was considered a high honor and highly regarded by members of the GRAND ARMY OF THE REPUBLIC (G. A. R.).
