KRAMER, John
KRAMER, John. (East Grand Forks, MN, Nov. 12, 1949- ). Kramer attended Moorhead State University and completed a bachelor of arts degree in business administration at Winona State University, Winona, Minnesota in 1974. After fifteen years of working with chambers of commerce in Minnesota, Colorado and Iowa, he became the Executive Director of the GREATER DUBUQUE DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. He was a member of the Professional Developers of Iowa and the American Economic Development Council. (1)
Kramer came to Dubuque in 1988 leaving a position as the executive vice president of the Greater Fort Dodge (Iowa) Area Chamber of Commerce. He came recommended by Allan THOMS, former director of the Iowa Department of Economic Development. Almost immediately he directed a survey of 30,000 Dubuque County residents to develop a statistical profile of the county's work force. (2) An early success in Dubuque was attracting TRILOG, INC. to the community in 1989. (3)
Although Kramer remained in Dubuque only four years, his successes were many and involved Nordstrom, Bodine Electric, and WILLIAM C. BROWN COMPANY. He left in 1991 to take similar responsibilities in Fargo, North Dakota. (4)
