KOPALD, Fannie
KOPALD, Fannie. (Dubuque, IA-- ). Fannie was the daughter of Samuel and Bertha Kopald who owned a general store and loan office near Mulgrew's Bakery on Main Street.
In 1969 Fannie was playing first violin in the Mayor Yorty Senior Symphony in California. During a concern at Las Palmas Venter in Hollywood, she was informed a gentleman wished to speak with her. The gentleman turned out to be a patent scout who enjoyed her performance and asked her to audition for a role in "Funny Girl," a motion picture starring Barbara Streisand. During one of the "takes" she got caught up in the moment and joined in the dancing. Rather than being removed from the cast, Fanny's dancing was used in the film as well.
