KEY CITY MILLS
KEY CITY MILLS. Key City Mills was constructed by Frederick WEIGEL. (1)The 1858-1859 through 1865 Dubuque City Directory listed Iowa between 2nd and 3rd. A. J. Goss was the proprietor.
In October 1864, A. L. Rowe of New York City purchased a half-interest in the mill for $10,000. (2)
In September 1878 a boiler explosion at the mill destroyed the premises. It was expected that rather than rebuild, the owners would move the machinery salvaged to the PATCH & WAITE mill that they also owned. (3) The tearing down of the old mill continued into 1880. (4)
